LETTUCE

Fall, winter, and spring are prime times for all salad greens. Their delicate leaves love the milder temperatures during these times of year and the cool nights make the greens sweeter.

For the best salad, make sure your lettuce is good and dry before dressing. Dressing can't stick to wet leaves and you'll wind up with a pool of watery dressing at the bottom of your salad bowl.

STORAGE: Store lettuce in an unsealed plastic bag in your fridge and try to eat within a few days, for optimal freshness. Lettuce leaves can be washed and dried ahead of time and stored with a paper towel to keep fresh for longer.
