Job Opening: Business Marketing Coordinator
Start Date: August 2020
The Mission of Transplanting Traditions Community Farm (TTCF) is to provide refugees access to land, healthy food and agricultural and entrepreneurial opportunities. TTCF works with refugees that left Burma as a result of war and have come to North Carolina to rebuild their lives. The Business Marketing Coordinator will help refugee farmers grow and expand their businesses. This will be achieved by surveying the businesses at Transplanting Traditions, interviewing and learning from other similar farms and businesses, working with the farmers to create a business and outreach plan, and helping farmers to connect with new customers and implement their plans.
Essential Duties
- Conduct interviews and surveys of business and compile a report on findings
- Research and interview similar farms and business
- Interview current and potential customers
- Work with each farmer business to help them develop a plan for their business
- Identify and help connect farmers to new customers or places for selling their products
- Work with farmers to help them develop brochures or materials for their businesses
- Help improve and create better ways for farmers and staff to communicate with customers
- Provide assistance to farmers for selling their products
- Contribute to social media, website and newsletters
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, program events, fundraising, and advocacy events
- Provide monthly progress reports/quarterly/yearly reports to program supervisor
- Collaborate on specific projects and share ideas with other staff
Qualifications/Skills
- Passion or interest in Transplanting Traditions Community Farm mission
- Previous business development experience is great but not required
- Strong spoken and written English skills
- Organizational skills
- Proficiency in excel, word, powerpoint
- Pays attention to detail
- Ability to work well both in a team and independently
- Sales and marketing experience
- Flexible and able to adapt easily adaptability
- Understanding of social justice and agriculture is great but not a required
- Working with or personal experience with issues that impact immigrants or refugees
- Individuals that identify as a person of color are encouraged to apply
