AmeriCorps ACCESS Youth Coordinator

Transplanting Traditions Community Farm (TTCF) is part of AmeriCorps ACCESS, a project which focuses on immigrant and refugee communities to have access to human services so that they can become self-sufficient. The AmeriCorps ACCESS Youth Coordinator will serve refugee youth from Burma to support them in academic success, mental health, and leadership development through social justice activities that center around food sovereignty.

Qualifications

Passion for and understanding of food systems change, food justice and local agriculture
Dedication to working as a member of and in partnership with diverse communities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and self-management skills and strong emotional intelligence
High proficiency in Google Drive, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience in youth leadership and mentorship
Experience in curriculum development
Commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation
Experience building relationships with community partners
Prior understanding of and/or experience with the immigration process and resettlement experience and/or sustainable agriculture is ideal

Essential Duties

Develop curriculum that around the goals of the youth program
Facilitate workshops
Engage youth in activities and conferences
Schedule one-on-one mentoring sessions
Provide safe space for youth to free express themselves
Monitor and manages youth service hours
Connect with community partners to facilitate youth activities around the goals and objectives of the program

Program Benefits: This position is a part time, 20-25/hrs a week or 900 hours/year, year-long volunteer service opportunity starting in September 2022. AmeriCorps ACCESS members are volunteers, not employees, and therefore do not receive payment from TTCF for their service. As an AmeriCorps ACCESS you will receive a monthly living stipend, reimbursement for job related transportation, and educational award after completion of service.
